 Oakhurst Online was formed in October of 2002, although the founder, Mathew Sands, has been developing sites in this area since 1995. Mathew was employed at Sierra Internet Services ("SierraNET") and LanMinds Internet Services ("LMi.net") before establishing his own web service provider in the mountain community of Oakhurst. Mathew ran for "Honorary Mayor" of Oakhurst in 2008 on behalf of The Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst, raising over $20,000 for the club in just three months.
